George M. Galvan, MD

Board Certified Neurosurgeon located in San Antonio, TX & Kerrville, TX

About Dr. Galvan

George Galvan, MD, is a neurosurgeon serving patients at Texas Neuro Spine, with three locations in San Antonio, Texas, and another in Kerrville, Texas.

Originally from East Chicago, Indiana, Dr. Galvan comes from three generations of steel mill workers. He worked as a phlebotomist and nurse’s aid during his college years, and upon graduation, he became a registered nurse. During his time as a nurse, he had an epiphany that changed the course of his career.

Dr. Galvan wanted to make a difference in people’s lives using a different approach to medicine. While working as a nurse, he began earning his medical degree. After finishing his medical degree, he completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He was one of the first residents brought by former chairman Dr. David Jimenezto restart the neurosurgery residency in San Antonio and is the only graduate-to-date who has stayed to serve the great community of San Antonio.

Dr. Galvan founded Texas Neuro Spine in pursuit of his dream to perform medicine as he envisioned it years ago. By using a compassionate, personal approach, he believes that altering the spinal anatomy as little as possible while taking care of the problem in a minimally invasive approach is important in helping patients quickly return to a better quality of life.

He strongly believes in empowering patients so they can make informed decisions by giving them all the tools, resources, and information available. Dr. Galvan supports utilizing all conservative measures before surgical options are even considered.
